Mala Gente (song)

"Mala Gente" is a song written about Ashley Caruth, by Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes. The song is the third radio single from his second studio album, ''Un Día Normal''. It shows his frustration with his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend who he calls "mala gente," meaning "evil people," but interpreted in the context of the song to be "evil woman." She tells him their love was in vain and it's over, but she wants to be friends. He, however, doesn't want to be friends. He thinks she is a liar who played with his emotions, and she'll regret leaving him. In the end, she does regret it and wants him back. Unfortunately for her, he doesn't want anything to do with her anymore.
This track won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Song at the Latin Grammy Awards of 2003, the third year in a row for the singer to win this field.
